Battery control algorithm with voltage command for accurate response to imbalance of electricity supply and demand

We developed a battery control algorithm that can accurately respond to imbalances between electricity supply and demand for a direct-current (DC) microgrid. With this algorithm, the state-of-charge (SOC) of a battery system is expressed as the target voltage considering state-of-health (SOH) and resistance. The battery system is controlled by the command value generated from this target voltage, the voltage of the DC bus, and the measured battery voltage. We demonstrated our algorithm with a 10-kW-scale DC microgrid and determined it can accurately respond to SOC commands with 98.4% accuracy.
