The Correlation of PaCO_2 and Quality of Life in Patient with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Objective: To investigate the complications and relationship of the quality of life(QOL) with PaCO2 in patients with COPD.Method: According to guidelines of GOLD 2006 for the severe COPD,60 patients with severe COPD in stationary period were enrolled in our hospital from July to November in 2008.Their clinical data were studied.The QOL were assessed.Linear regression analysis was employed to analyze relationship between QOL and PaCO2.Result: 60 patients complicated with 54 cases cor pulmonale,25 cases osteoporosis,24 cases lower albumin,and so on.The patients with PaCO2≥50mmHg more complicated with cor pulmonale,osteoporosis and lower albumin than ones with PaCO250mmHg.There were significant positive correlation between PaCO2 and various factors in QOL.Conclusion: The severe COPD patients always complicated with other diseases.PaCO2 can be a better index to evaluate the severity degree of the patient status.
