Development of superfine antibacterial PP/PA6 composite fiber

An antibacterial polypropylene (PP)/polyamide 6 (PA6) composite fiber was prepared from PP,PA6 and inorganic antibacterial agent by composite spinning technology. The production process and the fiber properties were studied. The results showed that the incorporation of the antibacterial agent had no obvious effect on the spinning process. The cross section of the obtained PP/PA6 composite fiber was stable and clear when the spinning temperature was 260-270℃ for PA6 and 268-280℃ for antibacterial PP. The obtained fiber can be produced into a superfine antibacterial PP/PA6 composite fiber after dyeing and finishing. By detections,the fabric was proved to have an antibacterial effect against staphylococcus aureus,escherichia coli,bacillus pneumoniae and candida albicans and have a moisture adsorption,perspiration exhaust and quick drying function.
