Investigation on the Species and Hazards of Sweet Corn Fruit Borers

The species and hazards of the sweet corn fruit borers in main planting areas in Hainan province,such as Qionghai,Ledong,Sanya and so on,were investigated.The results indicated that there are 4 specie insect on corn ear,Ostrinia furnacalis(Guenee),Mythimna seperata(Walker),Helicoverpa armigera(Hubner) and Proceras venosatus(Walker),which belong to Noctuidae and Pyralidae in Lepidoptera.,and O.furnacalis is the most destructive insect pest in sweet corn,and 72.20% of sweet corn ear can be infected in field.
