Expression of STAT3 protein in prostate carcinoma and its significances

Objective To study the expression and significances of STAT3 protein in prostate carcinoma.Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect STAT3 in 38 cases with prostatic cancer and 29 cases with normal prostatic tissue.Results The positive expression rate of STAT3 protein of well 25%(3/12) and moderately differentiated prostate cancer 31.25%(5/16) was weak than that of poorly differentiated prostate cancer 80%(8/10)(P0.01).Conclusions Expression of STAT3 protein has reversely changed trend,suggesting STAT3 protein detection may help judge prostate cancer′s pathologic grade and predict the prognosis.
