Investigation and Analysis of Perioperative Prophylactic Application of Antibiotics in Thyroid Operation in Our Hospital

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the perioperative prophylactic application of antibiotics in thyroid operation and the effect of intervention measures in our hospital. METHODS: Using retrospective investigation, the perioperative prophylactic application of antibiotics in thyroid operation in our hospital was analyzed during Feb.-Jun. in 2011 (before intervention) and Oct. 2011-Feb. 2012 (after intervention). RESULTS: After intervention, the utilization ratio of antibiotics decreased from 96.50% to 31.00%. There were remarkable improvements in medication selection,dosing timing,medication duration, rationality of them, etc. The differences were statistically significant before and after interventions (P0.05). CONCLUSION: A series of intervention measures are feasible and effective in the application of antibiotics in our hospital, however, there still are some unreasonable cases. It is necessary to strengthen the management of antibiotics use.
