Abstract
Objective By comparing the peripheral blood WBC count and serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG) concentrations of Chongqing male population over the age of 60,to explore the relationship between the level of WBC and blood lipids. Methods 3 740 cases of 60 years elderly male were collected from 40 047 cases.Samples were divided into hyperlipoidemia(2 116 cases) and control groups(1 624 cases) according to examination results.Hyperlipoidemia group was divided into high cholesterol(HTC,784 cases),high triglyceride(HTG,644 cases),high cholesterol combined with high triglycerides subgroups(HTC-HTG,688 cases). The parameters in each group were determined and analyzed by statistics. Results The WBC count was significantly higher in hyperlipoidemia group than that in control group(P0.01).The WBC counts were significantly higher in HTG and HTC-HTG subgroups than that of control group(P0.01).There was positive correlation between the WBC count and the level of TG(P0.05).Conclusions The WBC count of the elderly men with dyslipidemia is significantly higher than that of normal population, the dyslipidemia is closely related with WBC count, and WBC count can be as assisted monitor index for dyslipidemia.
