Clinical Study on Zhao's Thunder-fire Moxibustion for Bell Palsy

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion in treating Bell palsy.Method A total of 92 patients with Bell's palsy were randomized into a treatment group(n=47) and a control group(n=45).The treatment group was managed by Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion plus medication,while the control group was by medication only.The recovery rate and time were observed and recorded.Result The total effective rate was 95.7% in the treatment group versus 95.6% in the control group,but the difference was insignificant(P0.05).The average recovery rate in the treatment group was 10 d versus 14 d in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion Zhao's thunder-fire moxibustion is effective in treating Bell palsy,and can shorten the recovery time.
