SCCmec typing of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

OBJECTIVE To identify the genotypes of staphylococcal chromosomal cassette mec(SCCmec) in the isolates of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) by multiplex polymerase chain reaction(PCR).METHODS Sixty-five isolates of MRSA were isolated from various clinical specimens from 2007 to 2008 in our hospital.The genotypes and subgenotypes of SCCmec were determined by multiplex PCR.RESULTS Among the 65 isolates of MRSA,1(4.6%) isolate belonged to SCCmecⅠ,47(72.3%) isolates belonged to SCCmecⅢ,2(3.1%) isolates belonged to SCCmecⅣ were found in the test.We had not detected the type Ⅱ.Eleven(16.9%) isolates were not typed.CONCLUSIONS SCCmec Ⅲ is a major genotype in MRSA in our hospital.Multiplex PCR is capable to identify the genotypes and its subgenotypes of SCCmec in MRSA.
