Multimode cellular transceivers need to simultaneously meet the high linearity and emissions requirements of LTE-A, the accurate power control of 3G, and the stringent noise of 2G. This paper presents an LTE-A multimode transmitter capable of fulfilling the stringent output power and emissions requirements of the band 41 high power user equipment (HPUE) standard. The presented current-mode architecture provides good linearity and high suppression of counter-intermodulation (CIM) products, achieving −64.5dBc CIM3 in band 41 while transmitting 6dBm.
