Analysis on Latent Syphilis Infection in Inpatient from 2008 to 2010

Objective To analyze epidemiological and serology characteristics by investigating syphilis infection from all the inpatient before operation and blood transfusing.Methods The results of tests of TRUST and TPPA were retrospectively analyzed from Jan.2008 to Dec.2010 shaanxi provincal people's hospital.Results 49744 case were collected in three years,in which 502 cases were positive of syphilis.The positive rate of syphilis were 0.81% in 2008,1.05% in 2009,1.09% in 2010 respectively which increased year after year.Two hundred and seventy-five cases were male and 227 cases were female in 502 cases of syphilis,of male was 1.12%.The positive rate of female was 0.09%.The proportion of male to female was 1.21:1.The positive rate of syphilis was increased with increasing age,the positive rate of syphilis was highest in age group of 80~89 years,the positive rate of syphilis was lowest in age group of 1 to 20 years.Conclusion The number of patients with latent syphilis is the largest.Routine syphilis screening of in-patients is one of the effective measures to prevent the spread of syphilis.
