Evaluation of left ventricular rotation in patients with uremia by using two-dimensional ultrasound speckle tracking imaging

Objective To evaluate the left ventricular rotation in patients with uremia by using 2-dimensional ultrasound speckle-tracking imaging(2D-STI).Methods Thirty patients with uremia having normal left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF50%) and 30 control subjects were enrolled in this clinical investigation.High frame rate two-dimensional images were recorded from the LV short-axis views both at the basal and apical planes.The peak rotation agrees of apex were obtained at both views by STI.Results The characteristics of the LV rotation curve in patients with uremia was similar to that of the controls,but the peak rotation degrees of the uremic patients was less than that of the normal subjects(t=3.55,P0.05).Conclusions 2D-STI could evaluate the early changes of LV function in uremic patients.
