Risk factors of gestational diabetes mellitus in Wuhan city

Objective:To explore the main risk factors of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM),provide a theoretical basis for prevention of GDM.Methods:103 patients with GDM who were diagnosed in two affiliated hospitals from January 1999 to February 2008 were selected as case group,meanwhile,143 healthy pregnant women were selected as control group,univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were conducted.Results:The factors included into multivariate non-conditional regression analysis model were gestational age at this time,menarche age,medical history of menstrual cycle disorder,times of spontaneous abortion,maternal medical history of GDM,paternal medical history of GDM,the OR values(95%CI) were 1.50(1.14～2.04),0.36(0.16～0.84),3.85(1.59～9.36),3.00(1.56～5.77),3.89(1.15～13.17) and 6.54(2.42～17.69),respectively.Conclusion:The risk factors of GDM include gestational age,medical history of menstrual cycle disorder,times of spontaneous abortion,maternal medical history of GDM,paternal medical history of GDM,while menarche age14 years was one of the protective factors for GDM.
