摘要
There is a need to improve vehicular technology, as vehicular accidents do claim more than 1.24 million people every year, causing physical, emotional and economic hardships to various people 2020 2nd International Workshop on Human-Centric Smart Environments for Health and Well-being (IHSH) concerned. Accidents happen due to human failure – inattention of the driver, caused by either a failure to maneouver a complex driving situation or being drowsy while on the wheels. Such accidents also happen because the technology is inadequate to detect that an accident is about to happen and its failure to inform the driver of such danger. Even if the danger is imminent, it is still possible for the vehicle to mitigate the impact of an accident, but it is not there. Technology is missing. This presentation will take a look at the existing technology and the current state-of-the-art and reason out why it is inadequate. A problem definition is presented and a methodology for the resolution of the the problems will be cited. A French project, named CASA (CAr Safety App) is presented as a sample case that adresses the cited issues. But even CASA is not enough as there are just plenty of other issues that need to be addressed. For this reason, research challenges shall be discussed and some mathematical and computational intelligence tools shall be presented; they may be used to addressed those challenges.
