Creep Model of EPS Composite Soil and Secondary Development in FEM

In order to study the long-term deformation of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) composite soil, i. e. creep behavior, a semi-empirical creep model was proposed. The elastic deformation was expressed by two Kelvin models and one Hook’s spring which were connected in series, and the plastic deformation was described by two empirical models. Based on User Subroutines CREEP of finite element program ABAQUS, the proposed semi-empirical creep model was secondarily developed and was verified through triaxial undrained creep test. The results showed that the creep behavior of EPS composite soil could not be neglected and the secondarily developed semi-empirical creep model was reasonable and effective which can well reflect the creep behavior of EPS composite soil.
