Bibliometrical Analysis of Wetland Research Based on Web of Science from 1899 to 2010

This study made an analysis of the literature concentrated on research of wetlands from 1899 to 2010 based on science citation index expanded(SCIE)database using the Thomson Data Analyzer.In order to summarize the main content and hotpots in the area of international wetland research,the keywords of existence frequency more than 100 times were found out,the periods they appeared were analyzed.The five different periods were divided into on wetland research,and 10 keywords attracting the most attentions in each period have been identified.We have also found out 10 key words with the largest annual amount of paper published and the frequency of coexistence among them.The results showed that the wetland research involves a number of disciplines.Extensive research concerned about it started in 1990.Functions of hydrology,biogeochemistry and biological diversity of wetlands are the main research areas of them.Modeling has become the primary method of them.United States of America is occupied the main position in the area of wetland research in the world,and China has become the second largest country of wetland research in the recent years.
