Effect and mechanism of Asthma-reliving decoction on pulmonary function in patients with bronchial asthma

Objective To explore the effect of Asthma-reliving decoction on pulmonary function,IL-4 and ECP in patients with bronchial asthma.Methods 70 patients with bronchial asthma were randomly divided into two groups.Patients in control group (n=35) were treated by Aminophylline and placebo.35 cases in treatment group were treated by combination of Aminophylline and Asthma-reliving decoction.The course was two weeks in two groups.After a course,the level of IL-4 and ECP in serum was measured.Results There were significant differences between before and after treatment on pulmonary function,the level of IL-4 and ECP in two groups (P0.05).There were significant differences between control group and treatment group on pulmonary function,the level of IL-4 and ECP after treatment (P0.05).Conclusion Asthma-reliving decoction can improve significantly pulmonary function in patients with bronchial asthma,its mechanism maybe related to regulate the level of IL-4 and ECP in serum.
