Molecular typing on Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains by PFGE

Abstract
Objective To draw a DNA fingerprint of Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains by PFGE, and to determine relationship among the Vibrio parahaemolyticus isolated from food poisoning. Methods Chromosomal DNAs from 55 strains were cut by restriction enzyme Not I, and then the molecular subtying were analyzed by PFGE. The source of these strains were analyzed using software-BioNumerics. Results There were 30 distractive PFGE patterns. 38 stains belonged to the same cluster, these strains seemed to be prevailing in Minhang in two years. Conclusions There were closely related pandemic clones of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Minhang. PFGE was very useful method in analyzing homology of Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
