Analyse on the relation about the polymorphism of Vitamin D receptor gene rs1544410 and the susceptibility of lead poisoning of children

Objective: Polymorphisms of the vitamin D receptor(VDR) gene may be a risk factor for lead toxicity.We investigated the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) of the VDR gene in Pre-school children aged 0.5-6 years old in some areas of Shenzhen.Methods: High blood lead group(N= 75,blood lead ≥60μɡ/L) and control group samples(N=80,blood lead≤19.90μɡ/L) were genotyped for rs1544410 polymorphisms by using MALDI—TOF—MS assay method and the blood lead level was measured by using the graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry(GFAAS),Chi-squared analysis was used to test for the association of VDR genotype with blood lead level.Results: Genotype GG of rs1544410 were more frequent in high blood lead group(93.3%) than in controls(83.8%)(χ2=7.084;odds ratio: 4.30;confidence interval 95%:1.28-18.44;P=0.008).Conclusions: The rs1544410 SNP of the VDR gene was associated with blood lead level in the studied population.
