HIV antibody preliminary screening in 113229 inpatients

Objective To investigate the positive rate of HIV antibody preliminary screening and the distribution of the clinical departments in general hospital inpatients. Methods HIV antibody preliminary screening detection was conducted in113 229 cases of patients. The positive rate between different genders was compared,and the distribution of patients with positive HIV antibody in different departments was analyzed. Results Totally 152 plasma samples were positive by the antibody screening test for HIV,and the positive rate was 0. 134%,including 91 males and 61 females( P 0. 05). The 152 positive cases covered20 clinical departments and the major clinical departments included otolaryngological department,orthopaedics department,gynaecology department,urology department,surgery department,neurology department,dermatological department,oncology department and ophthalmology department. The patients with positive HIV antibody undergoing preliminary screening of these departments accounted for 67. 1% of the total screening. Conclusion The positive rate of HIV antibody screening among inpatients in our hospital is high with a wide range of department distribution.
