Abstract
In the parish of Ayora, Santo Domingo community N◦ 1 was carried out a serological diagnosis for the detection of Bovine Leucosis by means of the ELISA test. The objectives of the research were to determine the prevalence of the disease, the related risk factors, and estimate the number of positive cases occurring in the slaughterhouse of the Canton Cayambe; through a postmortem anatomopathological clinical examination. According to the epidemiological research a prevalence of 5.6 % of a total of 250 samples was determined. The probability of infection in the relative risk of the disease is 16.86 times more in the exposed group and 0.059 times less than in the unexposed group due to inadequate sanitary practices, reproductive management, nutrition, contact with positive animals and replacements from farms that do not hold health certificates. Postmortem pathological lesions were diagnosed, clinical signs of the disease were observed in various organs. A prevalence of 46.38 %, from a total of 511 animals confirmed the presence of bovine Leucosis in dairy herds in the community N◦ 1 of Santo Domingo, and pathologic lesions in slaughtered animals in the slaughterhouse.
