Abstract
Through bioassay-guided fractionation way,the aucubin was isolated from plantain, and the protective effect of aucubin on oxidative cell damage was studied by using a rat pheochromocytoma(PC12) cell line.Through a series of extraction and separation, the aucubin obtained from plantain was determintecl by thin layer chromatography(TLC).It is an amorphous white powder and the weight of it is 300 mg.The indirect oxidative stress model was established by using H2O2-induced PC12 cells and further the neuroprotective effects of aucubin by 3-(4, 5dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay was investigated. All the result indicated that aucubin increased PC12 cellular viability and markedly attenuated H2O2-induced PC12 cell death.
