Effect of Density on Plant Growth and Water Consumption of Danyu12 in Western Arid Region of Liaoning Province

Effects of density on plant growth and water consumption were studied with Danyu12 as the test crop under control irrigation in western arid region of Liaoning province.The results showed that plant height little changed as plant density changed;stem diameter and leaf area per plant decreased with increasing plant density,while leaf area index,daily water consumption,water consumption of each growing stage,and total water consumption increased,the water consumption of the highest density treatment was 22% more than the lowest density treatment;as plant density increased,yield and water use efficiency increased first and then decreased.Therefore,to save water and get higher yield,the suitable density of Danyu12 is 5.25×104 plant/ha under control irrigation condition in western arid region of Liaoning province.
