Effect of psychological nursing intervention on elderly patients with lumbar spinal stenosis

Objective To study the effect of psychological nursing intervention on elderly patients with lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods The clinical data of 170 old patients with lumbar spinal stenosis,who in hospital from May 2012 to July 2013,were retrospectively analyzed,and divided into the control group and study group, with 85 cases in each group. The observation group was received psychological nursing intervention, and the control group was given routine nursing care. The postoperative recovery were observed and compared in two groups of patients. Results After 5 weeks, two groups were self rating symptom. The somatization, compulsion, depression, anxiety, hostility of the observation group patients were improved obviously that of the control group(P 0.05), the difference was statistically significant. After 5 weeks of nursing intervention, the total effective rate of control group was 92.9%, and the total effective rate of study group was 98.8%. The total effective rate of the study group was better than that in control group, the difference was significant(x2=4.54,P 0.05). Conclusion Psychological nursing intervention can improve elderly patients with lumbar spinal stenosis postoperative psychological problems, remove the psychological barriers, promote rehabilitation.
