Improved Multiferroic Properties of BiFeO_3-Bi(Ti_(0.5)Ni_(0.5))O_3 Solid Solution Ceramics

The structural,magnetic and ferroelectric properties of the(1-x)BiFeO3-xBi(Ti0.5 Ni0.5)O3(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3)solid solutions synthesized by a modified Pechini method are investigated.The X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the single phase character of all the compositions with rhombohedral structure.Compared with pure BiFeO3 compound,both ferroelectric and magnetic properties are much improved by solid solution with Bi(Ti0.5 Ni0.5)O3 with saturation hysteresis loops observed.Among all the samples,the x = 0.1 sample shows the optimal ferromagnetism with Mr =0.565 31emμ/g and the optimal ferroelectricity with Pr =5.767μC/cm2 at room temperature.
