Captura em massa no combate à Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) na cultura do mirtilo

Drosophila suzukii, the spotted wing drosophila, is a phytophagous pest which attacks several hosts and has great dissemination capacity. This pest causes damage in many crops with particular incidence on small fruits, such as those of the genus Rubus. The early and correct detection of the D. suzukii and the choice of protection methods alternative to chemical control, such as massive trapping (biotechnological pest method).  have proved to be interesting, both from the environmental point of view and the quality of the final product. Thus, it is urgent to study this pest in order to define the best crop protection strategy for small fruits in accordance with the principles of integrated pest management, in particular those that may contribute to the reduction of pesticide use. In this sense, this study aimed to monitor D. suzukii and to study its bioecology in a blueberry grove in Viseu region and to evaluate the results of mass trapping as a crop protection method against this pest. Monitoring D. suzukii with artisanal bottles with baker's yeast or Suzukii Traps was crucial in determining the most appropriate time for initiating the mass capture method. The use of Suzukii Traps was quite effective in mass capture in blueberries. In addition, it may be suggested that the existence of raspberry specimens can work as an ecological infrastructure, attracting the pest and reducing the damage to the crop.
