Abstract
It was done a literature review about relation between vulnerability or risk factors and language development. Searches were limited to databases and journals; then the information was organized into two main categories that take part as risk factors for the suitable development of language. Among environmental factors are able to locate studies with low resource populations, minorities and immigrants, child abuse and parental relationships. Among the biological factors, the genetic elements are identified, events related to pregnancy and birth and overall structural and functional conditions associated with disability. We discussed the importance of considering the scientific basis of this relationship beyond the social prejudice as a basis for the guidance of both the processes applied in the profession, and next investigations which want to relate the variables contained herein.
