Abstract
in this paper, a single PCB board integrated 2.45 GHz energy harvesting system is proposed, which contains a dipole antenna, a ring directional coupler, impedance matching network and a 2-stage cross-coupled active rectifier boost regulator (RBR) chip. FR-4 with dielectric constant of 4.6 and thickness of 1.6mm PCB board is adopted. The on-board dipole antenna with dual-band and high-gain is designed as rectenna to harvesting RF signal. The ring directional coupler is used to convert single-ended RF signal into differential signals with phase difference of 180 degrees. The impedance matching network is designed to match frequency of 2.45 GHz. A 2-stage cross-coupled active RBR chip is designed with standard 180nm CMOS process, and installed on the PCB board with chip-on-board (CoB) package. Measurement results show that when the output power of PA is 18 dBm@2.45 GHz and the distance between transmitting antenna and dipole antenna is 10 cm, the RBR output voltage of 3.88 V and 1.49 V under 10 MΩ and 5 KΩ load resistance are achieving, respectively.
