Design and Feasibility Analysis of Hybrid Renewable Power System Connected to Grid in Maheshkhali Island, Bangladesh

Our modern world demands to maximize the utilization of renewable energy for generating electrical power without causing any pollution. As a developing country like in Bangladesh the demand of power is diurnally growing up. But in some remote areas of Bangladesh facing the problem of having inadequate electricity. In this paper, we have concentrated for setting up a hybrid power generation system with the combination of renewable energy resources like solar, wind, biogas, etc. in a remote area called Maheshkhali Island, which is renowned to have abundant amount of natural energy resources. This hybrid power system would be connected to grid to reduce the electricity cost by providing excess electrical power to meet the extra demand of load. The simulation is done by HOMER software which analyzes the comparison between different loads from various hybrid energy sets with the grid to generate the supreme amount of electricity based on the availability of renewable energy and prophesies the Levelized Cost of Electricity 3.36 Taka/kWh ($.0409/kWh) and net present cost of 3,914,203,580 Taka ($ 47,734,190) with 87.9% renewable fraction. Furthermost this kind of renewable hybrid system also helps to reduce greenhouse gas, load demand from the grid, and power insufficiency of National Grid.
