摘要
White mulberry or murbei (Morus alba L., Moraceae) is a fast-growing shrub or tree species, indigenous to China and Korea and nowadays have been cultivated in the tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions including Indonesia. Mulberry is commonly used as primary for silkworms (Bombyx mori L) and folk medicines. Polyprenoids have been reported to have biological and medicinal properties. This current work discusses the composition and profile of polyprenols and dolichols from M. alba leaves, roots, stems, barks, and fruits that investigated by two-plate thin-layer chromatography (2P-TLC) procedure. In these tissues, three-groups profile of polyprenols and dolichols were determined. Group I depicting the predominance of dolichols over polyprenols, identified in M. alba fruits and stems. Group-II, the existance of both polyprenols and dolichols, was traced in leaves and barks. Group-III, with a domination of polyprenols over dolichols, has been found in the roots. The composition of polyisoprenoids in diverse organs of M. alba indicated the chemotaxonomic significance of polyisoprenoids in this species.
