Loss Modelling and Analysis of a High-Efficiency Wireless Power Transfer System for Automated Guided Vehicle Applications

In this paper, the high-accuracy loss modelling and analysis of a kW-level wireless power transfer (WPT) system for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) robotic applications are presented. The proposed analysis process is universally fit for WPT system design. First, a simplified coil AC loss model is built, with consideration of skin and proximity effects. Compared with previous models, the proposed model maintains the analytical accuracy and realizes 62.5% computing time decrease in average. Also, the shielding effects and electronic losses are analyzed respectively, through both analytical deduction and finite element analysis (FEA). Influences of the parameter variation on the efficiency performances are specifically illustrated, including the input voltage and load condition. Thus, the deduced system efficiency is obtained and compared with the measured counterpart. Within the whole operating range, the system efficiency remains over 85%, with the deduction error lower than 2.3%. Specially, under rated condition, the deduction error is only 0.3%. All the results prove the high precision of the presented loss modelling and analysis for the proposed system.
