Comércio marítimo brasileiro: busca de países referência para desenvolver a navegação de cabotagem

The purpose of the article is to select reference countries for the analysis and development of Brazilian commercial shipping. The country is dedicated to exploring this modal, given the extensive coastline and riverside potential for navigation. However, only 11% of the cargo transits by sea, although cheaper, less polluting and with greater capacity than other modes. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was the research methodology. The results indicated the country's inefficiency and the need to considerably increase its cargo volume. The Netherlands and Turkey are references to the country whose policies and good management practices can be adapted.
