Abstract
Public Accounting as professional training program has been consolidated as a highly demanding knowledge area for those who study and practice it. The market and organizations use accounting knowledge to give a solution to diverse problems arising in them day to day. In this sense, this research sought to identify the professional competencies developed by Public Accounting graduates from the University of Antioquia under the problem-solving-based curricular model, through the analysis of the training purposes and the position of thirty graduates on whom a characterization survey was conducted. As results, it is concluded that although the program’s graduates expressed to be well qualified people and apt for performing in the labor market immediately after finishing their studies, there are still some aspects to improve, mainly regarding autonomy in their training process after finishing their University studies.
