Purpose Discoid meniscus is a congenital variant that usually affects the lateral meniscus of the knee. In the past, surgical intervention consisted of total meniscectomy. However, because degenerative changes were noted in total meniscectomy patients, current treatments now focus on rim preservation with arthroscopic saucerization or partial meniscectomy.
