Abstract
Risk factors have increased in nursing personnel when performing work activities. Objective: to analyze risk factors in nursing personnel in the intensive care unit of a second level hospital in the State of Mexico. Method: quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational, descriptive study. The population consisted of 250 nurses, the type of sampling was probabilistic, and the sample was 82. The occupational risks instrument was used, validated by Escobar and Vargas, (2017), to measure reliability the Kuder-Richardson of .82 was used.  A database was made in the SPSS program version 22. Results: the average risk level of 90% was found, the highest risk factor was the biological risk of 79%, 48% chemical risk, physical risk76%, 82% psychosocial risk and 81% ergonomic risk. It shows the positively correlated between age with work experience r=0.861 (p<0.01); likewise, training a low positive correlation with personal protective equipment r=-0.340 (p<0.01). Conclusions: It is evident the risk in the nursing staff when performing care activities to the critically ill patient.
