Abstract
Use of the therapeutic toy during the child hospitalization process provides an effective communication between the professional and the child and also provides comprehensive care, which uses interventions that reduce or eliminate the physical and psychological suffering experienced by the children and their families, thus providing more humanized care. This study aimed to describe the experiences of nursing students on educational assistance activities carried out in a children's cancer hospital through the use of instructional therapeutic toys. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach in the experience report modality, under the theoretical and methodological basis of the problematization of the Arco de Maguerez, which consists of five stages, namely: 1 - Observation of Reality; 2 - Survey of key points; 3 - Theorization; 4 - Solution Hypotheses and 5 - Return to Reality. It was decided to carry out educational actions focusing on the therapeutic need of children to develop an effective confrontation about the procedures performed. As main results, the therapeutic toy proved to be an efficient device for the preparation and social, intellectual and emotional development of the child even during hospitalization, with the reduction of tension and the mitigation of feelings such as fear and insecurity. Based on the above, the relevance of assistance aimed at the user is emphasized, based on a holistic view and in a welcoming care, with innovative and playful ways in order to promote the resignification of the child hospitalization process.
