Receiving Device for X-band High-Power Microwave Measurement Based on OMT

Abstract
A novel receiving device for X-band high-power microwave (HPM) measurement based on ortho-mode transducer (OMT) is designed, which consists of an OMT and a square waveguide horn antenna. The receiving device can identify the incident linearly polarized microwave radiation signal and divide into two orthogonal linear polarized waves. Therefore, it can receive a linearly polarized microwave radiation field in any direction and realize measuring the polarized direction and power density of HPM radiation field. In order to decrease its ports’ voltage standing wave rate (VSWR), an optimizing design method adjusting the position of inductance diaphragms is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The simulation results show that the VSWR of the OMT is 46 °. Moreover, the analysis indicates that the maximal deviations of the polarized directions and power density of the receiving device are <0.3° and <2%, respectively.
