摘要
Aim of this study is to investigate the primary metabolites; carbohydrates, proteins and fats of Deverra triradiata Hochst.ex.Boiss., Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) family and Echinops glaberrimus DC., Asteraceae (Compositae) family collected from Marwa area and Wadi Al-Shq, respectively in St. Catherine Protectorate, Egypt in July, 2017. The different extracts of the plants were rich with inorganic matter (5.63 and 8.16%), organic matter (94.37 and 91.84%), water content (13.33 and 27.78%) and crude fibres (40.14 and 32.84%) respectively. The amounts of total, soluble and insoluble carbohydrates in D. triradiata were 22.1, 2.71 and 19.39 g/100g, respectively and in E. glaberrimus were18.9, 1.98 and 16.92 g/100g, respectively. Results showed that the percentage of total nitrogen (0.84 and 0.98%) and total protein were (5.25 and 6.13%) respectively. Aspartic acid (non-essential amino acid) was the main amino acid in the plants. Total lipids were 3.81 and 3.10%, respectively. This fact reveals the presence of an intraspecific variability for these metabolites in the studied species. The two plants have antimicrobial activity.
