Influence of sweet orange peel oil additive on physicochemical properties of gasoline

•The influence of sweet orange peel oil additive on the physicochemical properties of low-octane gasoline was investigated using additive–gasoline blends.•The molecular behavior of the additive changed the chemical properties of gasoline, which resulted in changes in the physical properties.•The additive was proven to be an octane booster that was able to significantly increase RON.•A number of physical properties, including viscosity, density, and heating value, fluctuated in an increasing trend but remained within fuel standard ranges, and thus the additive can be used directly with gasoline.
