O Habitus e o Campo na Favela: Reflexões sobre o Morro Santa Marta – RJ

Tourist activity has grown in various slums in the city of Rio de Janeiro and, therefore, aroused the interest of researchers from different fields of knowledge in an assessment of the development of tourism that takes place in the communities. Observing the process of touristification in these degraded areas is important for the academic field and society, because the tourist phenomenon can generate great negative impacts. Therefore, this should not happen without prior planning, scientific studies and monitoring of the public sectors in order to minimize negative effects in those localities. This dissertation aims to analyze the effects of the tourist phenomenon in the field (the favela) and the habitus (residents) of the Santa Marta favela. The last one is the object of study of the research and from the field work it was possible to verify that there are changes in what Pierre Bourdieu adopts as field and habitus of the slum researched. Concerning the methodology, it followed a qualitative approach, based on Pierre Bourdieu's theories to guide my reflections, as well as to structure a consistent methodological approach in the field research. From the field research it was possible to verify, among other things, that local guides strive to (re)construct the image of the community, that is, they try through tourism to demystify the slum, to minimize the stigma of a poor and dangerous place
