Road influence on the development on driver fatigue

One of the negative effects of traffic is traffic accidents. Research shows that up to 40% of traffic accidents occur due to driver fatigue. The main factors of road safety are systematized into four groups: human, vehicle, road and environment. Fatigue is classified as one of the elements of the human factor. However, the road as a road safety factor is an area that has been largely devoted to attention since the beginning of the 21st century. This is comfirmed by numerous studies conducted around the world. An analysis of literature relating to the impact of fatigue on traffic safety notes that road characteristics influence the development of fatigue. So, in the 21st century, we can place fatigue among the road factors, even though it has been considered an element of human factors to date.The aim of this paper is to systematize indicators related to driver fatigue, which should be analyzed in the context of road safety assessment and other modern tools for improving road safety.
