A research combined theory with experiment of 2-Amino-6-(Methylsulfonyl)Benzothiazole as an excellent corrosion inhibitor for copper in H2SO4 medium

•A fire-new corrosion inhibitor AMB is found to prevent the corrosion of copper.•Using more than one technique investigated the inhibition performance of AMB.•The inhibition efficiency of 3 mm AMB was more than 90% at different temperatures.•AMB had remarkable corrosion inhibition performance for Cu in H2SO4 by AFM analysis.
