Active Frequency Selective Surface for Duplexers in Wireless Applications

Active FSS (Frequency Selective Surface) for Wireless Applications have been explored and presented. In this paper, I-shaped, PIN diode loaded frequency selective surface with FR-4 substrate is proposed for duplexer applications with switching of PIN diode ‘in ON state or in OFF’. FSS with regular pattern using I-shaped cell has been analysed for multiple frequency bands. Using five I-shaped unit cells, three multiple frequency pass band for Tx frequencies and stop band for Rx frequencies and vice a versa have been obtained in the two switching bands. Four frequency bands with Nine I-shaped unit cells have also been presented for duplexing applications. HFSS v12 software has been used for analysis of the structure.
