Abstract
For the demand of S-band high-power microwave (HPM) applications, a contracting rectangle waveguide phase shifter is investigated in this paper. There are no dielectric and metal pins involved in this phase shifter, so the requirement of the high-power capacity for HPM applications can be satisfied. We also put forward a visualized parameters optimization method which can quickly obtain the desirable parameters of the phase shifter. Results show that the phase shifter could operate at 2.856 GHz, and the adjustment range of phase can obtain 180° by changing the broad side length of the rectangle waveguide from 0 to 33.8 mm. Meanwhile, the input port’s voltage standing wave rate (VSWR) keeps less than 1.08. The dimensions of the phase shifter are 72.14 mm × 34.04 mm with a phase shifting length of 288 mm. In addition, the power capability can achieve gigawatts scale in the vacuum condition.
