Abstract
Iron Metabolism In article number 2100385 by Matthias W. Hentze, Martina U. Muckenthaler, Matthias Barz, and co-workers, core cross-linked micelles based on polypept(o)ides are designed for specific delivery of iron to macrophages that trigger sterile inflammation. Iron recognition leads to feedback mechanisms for preferred cell uptake, inducing macrophage activation. The approach abolishes undesired immune tolerance unleashing the potential of iron as a therapeutic agent.
