Design and Optimization of a Compact and Misalignment-tolerant Wireless Power Transfer System

Double D and quadrature (DDQ) couplers are widely employed in wireless power transfer (WPT) systems due to good misalignment tolerance. Nevertheless, two full-bridge inverters are required in these WPT systems. To reduce the utilized MOSFETs, this paper proposes a topology integrating two full-bridge inverters which only requires six MOSFETs. The working principle of the integrated inverter is analyzed using fundamental harmonic analysis method. Primary inductor-capacitor-capacitor secondary capacitor (LCC/S) compensation topology is employed to obtain a loadindependent output voltage. To improve misalignment tolerance of the WPT system, an optimization method for the compensation inductor is proposed. The proposed integrated inverter and parameter optimization method is verified by simulation.
