Abstract
SUMMARY Posttraumatic ankle arthritis after malunited distal tibial plafond fractures can be salvaged by distal tibial plafond-plasty. The principles for the joint-preserving operation are to realign the mechanical axis, reconstruct the articular surface, and achieve a congruent and stable ankle joint. The revision procedures can be divided into the following 4 steps: osteotomy for exposure, articular surface reconstruction, bone grafting, and osteotomy fixation.
