Silicon photonics has lately attracted a great deal of interest amongst guided wave optics community as a versatile platform to realize a host of guided wave components and devices for sensing. Here, we would describe some of our own recent research results on few gas sensors and polarization-sensitive components on a silicon photonics platform.
