Abstract

Diclofenac sodium is a widely used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug. Its limited water solubility is low, specially in gastric juice (about 15 μg/ml) and, it is unstable in aqueous solution. This limited solubility in acidic medium gives problems in its oral bioavailability and it is a drawback in its formulation in controlled release devices.
