Due to an increasing demand in electrical power, renewable energy resources (RERs) play a vital role in producing energy and for feeding the load. This paper presents an islanded microgrid system with an AC load which is fed by power produced from the Wind turbine generators (WTGs), and includes a battery system for backup purposes. The study of the operation and control of power electronic converters for the system is the main objective in this present paper. Since, output power of the wind is varying, a suitable control scheme is used to obtain variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) operation and also for transferring power to common DC-link with the output of battery system. Then, convert it to suitable AC power using another converter, i.e., load side converter (LSC). The study model is implemented in MATLAB/simulink environment, and the simulation is done in different types of load and source conditions.
